Hello all. Been awhile, eh?
Things are okay. Had a rough week but I'm feeling better. Still stressing out about a few things...manageable things, though.
Lease-signing is in the next two weeks, and move-in to the new place is immediate. I have to be out of my current house by August 1st. I'm super pumped to move. =D
Work and school/clinic for the next few days, then Friday through Tuesday in Green Bay with Jonathon. We're going north to stay on his dad's land for most of the weekend.
Anyway. Off to Jonathon's apartment for the night to play L4D and/or GoT with Jen and Spencer (Jon's @ work). Love to all. Take care of yourselves.

This weekend is best to be summed up by the one photo that I didn't get: a blue ballon wriggling free from someone's hand and floating up towards puffy white cloud-arms with its tail joyfully wagging.

I like climbing trees.
I think it has to do with the roughness of the bark,
with little ants and tiny red spiders picking their way across chunks of dead tree-skin,
and I can press myself all the way against the trunk,
arms wrapped like gift bows and pulling tighter into my chest,
and my body blends into woodgrain.
There is water in between the cells, not enough to bleed into my clothes
but enough to create give between the two of us, the tree and I;
there's a bounce-back effect, with the roots pulling themselves up bits at a time
to dance a loamy jig
and, what do you know,
the bark shrugs itself off, branches straighten up like fused vertebrae brought back to life,
with underneath a raw glowing bloodstream moving half-formed leaves.
I am shaken out of my perch when the tree begins to move,
to lumber and gallop and run towards the open,
leaping fences and trailing its taproot like a snake in the dust behind.
I cling desperately,
buds raining into my hair and the bugs holding on beside me,
and when I am able I rest my head against the heaving trunk and exhale all my worries.
The tree absorbs my vapor, sucks up my bitterness,
and continues on with its journey, leaving dirty trackmarks and dropping its own rotten fruit
with squish squish noises on my head.
Eventually its O2 leaks through the leaves and I exhale deeply
to give it more to process.
